This is a one-actor piece and Stanwyck carries the assignment brilliantly.As the selfish,neurotic Leona Stevenson she lets us see all of the characters frailties and her mounting fright as she becomes aware that she's to be a murder victim.Burt Lancaster has limited screentime as the husband,but he makes the most of it. A suspense film almost of the Hitchcock calibre.In my opinion no one else could play the part better than Barbara Stanwyck!!!

I so agree with you on this. Just watched this morning and she literally carried the movie. Makes you feel sorry for Burt Lancaster in a supporting role but then he had his hits but Stanwyck was a classic and never seemed to falter. When she acted in The Thorn Birds at her age she was brilliant. So many great movies to her name and I love the ones she did with Fred McMurray. It has been a Stanwyck day for me but now I think I am going over to someone else for tonight. Sometimes I just like to have the sound and listen because some I have seen so many times I already know the movements. She was a true celebrity..

She is amazing in this movie! Stanwcyk can do anything. She has a believable quality about her that, no matter the role, she just draws you in.

Yes a woman that even into her old age was beautiful and still going almost all the time. I have to state again I loved her in The Thorn Birds. Even the supporting role but just about for me took it.
